The Bank of Kigali, Rwanda’s largest bank by assets, has officially appointed Deogratius Massawe as CEO of its technology division, BK Techouse.
Massawe, a Tanzanian, has been serving as the acting CEO of BK Techouse since August of last year. Prior to this interim role, he spent three years as the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of the same division.
Established in 2016, BK Techouse is a leading force in the digitization of Rwanda’s economy, providing innovative technology solutions and services across multiple sectors, including agricultural technology, educational technology, and financial technology.
MASSAWE’S CV
📍14 years of experience in the US at telecom giant T-Mobile, where he held various positions, including Senior Manager for Product and Technology.
📍Served as CTO/COO at the ride-hailing company Moovn.
📍Worked as a senior IT consultant for Microsoft
📍Began his career as an intern system engineer at IBM.
🎓 Massawe holds an MBA in business administration and health informatics from Georgia State University, along with a Bachelor of Science degree in computer science from the University of Washington.
With his extensive experience and leadership, Massawe is expected to steer BK Techouse towards continued innovation and growth in the rapidly evolving tech landscape of Rwanda.
