Research Associate of Rural Waste Water Management at New Delhi based Centre for Science and Environment, Shivangi Agarwal has congratulated the government of Tanzania for including sanitation issues in its Development Plan of 2021-2026.

In her article published today in www.downtoearth.org.in by title ‘After WASH report, burden of eradicating open defecation shifts to Africa’.

“Since early 2000, the country has been working on promoting safe sanitation and its recent development plans talk of improved sanitation,” she said.

Ms. Agarwal added: “Tanzania has identified that there is a need to understand safe toilet technologies and options for management of faucal sludge both through capacity building and legal framework.”

“Just like Tanzania, other countries need to put their act together to reach SDG 6,” she wrote.
